Major Problem Found with Electric Vehicles

Electric vehicles – named as ‘silent killers’

Would you believe there is a major problem with electric vehicles?  They’ve been branded as ‘silent killers’

A law, was established in July last in the European Union to enforce new electric vehicles to have a noise emitting device when reversing or travelling below 12mph.

The rule requires an Acoustic Vehicle Alert System to be installed in new models of hybrids and electric vehicles registered after September 1 2019 and all new vehicles registered after 2021.

The law has been put in place to protect pedestrians, particularly children and the disabled as the vehicles have been described as ‘silent killers’.

Research  in Britain by the Guide Dogs for the Blind organisation showed electric vehicles are 40o% more likely to hit a pedestrian than a petrol or diesel engine vehicle and the average person struggles to hear an electric vehicle  approaching  at less than 20kph.
