Isuzu’s 30th year of being the leading brand was set in a record year of truck sales

Isuzu Trucks posted a record annual sale of 10,027 trucks to beat previous records.

The previous record set of 9,223 units was set 10 years earlier in 2008.

2018 also marked the 30th consecutive year that Isuzu has been Australia’s highest-selling truck brand.

Other points of note:

  • Isuzu’s popular 8×4 FY Series broke new ground in 2018 with a sales volume of 643 units, smashing the previous record of 420 units set in 2017, representing a 53% increase in volume.
  • The total truck market broke through the 2007 high-water mark of 38,131 units with 41,628 sales recorded in 2018, up 13% on the total for 2017 and 8.4% on the previous 2007 total market best volume.

Isuzu Australia said it was particularly proud of the people who have helped make this a reality over the past three decades.

It added that it had been11 long years for the industry to re-capture the positive business conditions of 2007 and 2008 which could be regarded as a wider indication of the underlying strength of the economy.

Locally, the WA truck market remains stable. In the first six months of 2019, the heavy truck market was up 7% at the expense of a similar decline in light trucks.

We look to the expected resource sector spending, to increase and push the WA state economy along as it did in 2018.
