Isuzu Retains Top Spot in a Tough Year

Isuzu retains top spot in a tough year

On the back of a challenging year for retail trade, Isuzu Trucks has retained its long-held position at the top of the Australian truck market, marking 32 consecutive years as overall truck market leader.

  • National Sales Manager, Les Spaltman, said the 2020 milestone was achieved with with 8,276 units sold, a 24% share of the Australian truck market.
  • In light duty truck sales, Isuzu had 4,353 units sold, for a 39.5% share
  • Isuzu dominated the medium-duty category, with 2,668 units sold, for a 40.5% share
  • In a tough year for heavy-duty truck sales 1,255 units were sold, for an 11.8% share

Mr Spaltman said it had to be acknowledged that it was a tough year for the trucking industry but the company was feeling optimistic about the year ahead.

The company also wanted to acknowledge the impact of the government’s economic stimulus, in particular, the instant asset write-off and accelerated depreciation measures, which assisted many businesses in the trucking and other industries too.
